This policy describes the principles guiding EcoPro’s ongoing sustainability policy and plan for the future.
The EcoPro Cleaning Co. is committed to promoting sustainable business practices. We aim to follow and to promote these practices by integrating the three pillars of sustainability within the business:
- Economic
- Society
- Environmental
ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY
It is in the Company’s best interests to strive toward economic sustainability and growth at all times. To do so means the overall economic health of The EcoPro Cleaning Co., and its ongoing commitment to social progress and cultural sensitivity remains a positive strength of the Company.
EcoPro strives towards Economic sustainability and growth through the following procedures:
- Implementation of a robust Procurement Policy
- Maintaining a good relationship with clients and contractors alike, ensuring lines of communications between all parties remain open at all times
- By having a growth strategy in place to secure new clients and also providing existing clients additional services and products
- Implementation of the Company’s Core Values, Mission and Vision Statements
- Adherence to the Company’s Fleet Management Policy
- Commitment to providing excellent value for money to clients without sacrificing standards and our environmentally friendly ethics
- Endeavour to remunerate cleaning contractors at above industry standard rates.
COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL PROGRESS
A commitment to social development and social progress is to be achieved by EcoPro in the following ways:
- Support of the local business network, through sponsorship of awards, networking events, etc
- Corporate Sponsorship of like-minded charities and organisations such as
- Project Aware (protection of our oceans)
- Sustainable Coastlines
- Endeavour to remunerate cleaning contractors at above industry standard rates
- Provide ongoing work and support for members of the Auckland wide community who could be judged under-privileged
- Support and understanding of ethnic minorities by providing work and assistance in setting up their own businesses.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
EcoPro is required to achieve certain environmental objectives and targets through management of environmental impact from procurement and usage of its products and equipment.
EcoPro is committed to; sustainable consumption and production, minimal impact on the environment from products and service provided in the course of cleaning assignments, energy conservation and environmental enhancement through the services provided.
Commitment to environmental sustainability is thereby to be achieved by:
- Annual auditing of accredited third parties
- Thorough, robust training of all cleaning contractors in environmental procedures, hazards and correct use of chemicals and equipment
- Sourcing environmentally responsible products for the Company’s own use
- A commitment to reduction of waste and emissions
- Upholding all aspects of the Company’s Environmental Policy
- Comply with Environmental Choice New Zealand’s procurement directives, aiming to achieve maximum value for money and minimising waste.
- Continual striving towards the Company’s goals, as set out in the Vision and Mission Statements (Appendix II & III).
- Adherence to the Company’s Fleet Management and Procurement Policies.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT
The EcoPro Cleaning Co. has made a commitment to protect and preserve the environment we work and live in.
We believe it is our responsibility to seek to sustain the planet for the benefit of future generations by cleaning to protect health without harming the environment.
To achieve this EcoPro has taken initiatives which directly influence the improvement of the environmental and human health issues.
1.1 OUR COMMITMENT
- 1.1 Maintaining management systems for our customers work environments which are consistent with internationally recognized standards.
- 1.1 Minimize the use and impact of cleaning materials on the health of building occupants and cleaning personnel, while protecting the environment as a whole.
- 1.2 Use of effective cleaning products, equipment and methodology, which meet our objective of sustainable use of resources;
- 1.3 Minimize pollution in order to create healthier buildings, while reducing environmental impacts.
- 1.4 Enhance training skills of its personnel to ensure a more effective understanding of environmental issues and the management of them during operations, in particular with:
- 1.4.1 The use and storage of chemicals.
- 1.4.2 Promote chemical free cleaning where possible and ensure all cleaning teams are properly trained in cleaning methods that actively reduce the amount of chemicals used.
- 1.4.3 Implementation of recognized “Green Cleaning” methodology.
- 1.4.4 The recycling and disposal of waste in a safe, clean and efficient manner.
- 1.4.5 The conduct of regular environment audits on behalf of their customers.
- 1.4.6 Strive to achieve leading industry best practice.
- 1.5 Reduce environmental impacts by placing an emphasis on using renewable, recyclable and ECNZ Certified products.
- 1.6 Developing partnerships which focus on creating sustainable value.
- 1.7 Share the responsibility for meeting the requirements of this policy between EcoPro management, staff, contractors and clients.
2. OUR GOALS
- 2.1 To reduce waste to landfill by the offering and implementation of proper recycling programmes, thereby reducing waste removal costs for clients.
- 2.2 To offer all customers assistance in reaching their goals of reducing their carbon emissions, whereby improving the health of all employees, by minimizing the impact of cleaning materials on the health of building occupants and protect the environment as a whole.
- 2.3 To maintain third party accreditation with ECNZ (Environmental Choice New Zealand) published specifications EC-045-17.
- 2.4 To seek to attain further alignment with other organisations, bodies, councils, charities and/or certification programmes as we see fit that are in alliance with our own environmental policies and goals.
- 2.5 To maintain position as industry leaders in environmentally responsible cleaning.
Monitoring/Evaluation
Compliance with this policy will be monitored by EcoPro on an annual basis with an independent Agency reporting direct to the Directors of the company.
EcoPro will endeavour to continually research new and better products, procedures and monitor worldwide technological advancements in the field of Green Cleaning and sustainability in order to maintain its position as the “greenest commercial cleaning company in New Zealand”.
